Thousands of fireflies lining the trees of western NC. This wasn’t a shot I had in mind as I was making the trip up there. However, while up there, I saw a post by National Geographic on Instagram of what seemed to be millions of fireflies lighting up a tree line. The photo was magnificent, and I became inspired. I tried many different compositions but to me, this was the best one. Taken just after sunset and running throughout the night, I was taking hundreds upon hundreds of photos with just one or 2 fireflies per photo. I took all of those frames and stacked them using Starstax and edited the photos to be this one photograph which I love.
Wesser Bald Fire Tower on a cold and foggy Wednesday morning. We woke up at about 5:15 to catch the 6:20 sunrise, to hopefully take some early morning color over the Appalachian Mountains; however, the weather had other plans. It was an unusually foggy morning, allowing me to take some shots I never would’ve thought of if I had the conditions I wanted. For this shot, I wanted to convey how it truly feels to be “out there,” the isolation, the loneliness, and how remote it truly feels, even though there may be a city only an hour away.
Camouflaged lizard in Big Bend Ranch State Park. My mom and I went down to the State Park for a quick weekend camping trip at the start of summer. I didn't get as many photos as I had hoped, especially of the stars, as I couldn’t set up my tripod due to the extreme wind. However, this is one of my favorite photos from the trip, as the texture on the lizard is incredible.
